The University of Tromsø, Norway has a position vacant as Post doctoral research fellow in mathematical sciences at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Mathematics and statistics.
The post doctoral research fellow position is for a fixed term of three years. The position is organized in the Department of Mathematics and statistics.
A doctoral degree is a prerequisite for appointment in the position of post doctoral research fellow.
The applicant must be able to document scientific knowledge in applied statistics, and must have exceptionally good programming skills.
Description of the Postdoc Position
In recent years, there has been performed research in the area of scale-space methods to gain knowledge from data observed as a function of time and/or space. Such methods are important in the analysis of climate and medical data. The position will take part in the research activity connected to Tromsø Telemedicine Laboratory (Centre of Research-based Innovation). The researcher will contribute to the research in scale-space methodology at Department of Mathematics and Statistics. In particular, the researcher will focus on methods suitable for problems related to Early Warning Systems and Computer-Aided Diagnostics.
The successful applicant must be willing to engage himself/herself in the ongoing development of his/her discipline and the university as a whole.
The working time will be set aside for research, research-related activities and research administration. The employee may be instructed some teaching.
