A Post Doctoral Position in Anaerobic Digestion - Biohydrogen Production for 1 year is presently opened at the Walloon Centre of Industrial Biology / Centre Wallon de Biologie Industrielle (CWBI, University of Liège, Belgium).
Applicants will be invited to work on anaerobic digestion and dark fermentation to produce hydrogen from organic matter and particularly on the design and scaling-up of bioreactors. This work is carried out in the frame of the ARC (Concerted Research Action) project “MICROH2”, in collaboration with the Centre for Protein Engineering (CIP) of the University of Liège.
Project Description
The project aims to study and exploit the microbial production of hydrogen (H2). In addition to building a competence centre around the H2 production by microorganisms and the molecular monitoring of the processes, this proposal will answer two main socio-economic issues. First, transport and many economic activities will be based on hydrogen energy in the near future. Secondly, many researches and technology developments deal with renewable resources. Therefore, a new integrated technology for a sustainable development should be promoted.
Candidate Requirements
Candidates will be expected to have graduated from a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral program in chemical engineering, biotechnology, applied microbiology, environmental sciences or a related, appropriate field at the time of appointment. Experience with bioreactor investigations is required.
This offer is an international ‘mobility’ position, meaning that the applicants did not spent more than 24 months in Belgium during the last 3 years, and obtained their Ph.D. less than 8 years ago.
