The Joint Doctorate Program ‘MOVE-AGE’, is funded by the European Commission as part of the Erasmus Mundus program. In the MOVE-AGE program approximately 50 PhD students will receive a fellowship to study how mobility can be maintained during ageing. Loss of mobility with ageing is a vast and rapidly growing social and economic problem worldwide. Within MOVE-AGE we will perform translational research to generate knowledge and to train a new generation of scientists to address this problem.
Each fellow will be supervised by top-level researchers from at least two of the three participating institutes: MOVE of VU University Amsterdam, the Institute for Biomedical Research into Human Movement and Health of Manchester Metropolitan University and the Doctoral School Exercise and Physical Activity in Health and Disease of the K.U. Leuven.
Genreal Criteria
The following general requirements apply for applicants for a fellowship in the MOVE-AGE program:
- Applicants must have a master (MSc) degree in Human Movement Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Experimental or Biological Psychology or Medicine (or equivalent) or any other natural science. A certified scan of the diploma must be uploaded with the application.
- A detailed overview of bachelor and master program should be included in the application, providing a complete insight into the student’s bachelor and master training.
- Applicants have to upload a validated list of their grades obtained during previous training,
- Applicants have to upload at least two letters of support (recommendation), provided by qualified persons. These letters should include affiliations, original signature and up-to-date contact information, including email and phone number,
- Applicants have to provide a letter of motivation stating why they would like to study Mobility in Ageing, do this in the Move-Age program and why he/she will be a good candidate for our interdisciplinary Joint Doctorate Program.
Specific Criteria
The following specific requirements apply for applications for fellowships in the MOVE-AGE program:
- Contact details, including current home address, e-mail address, skype-identity and telephone
- Year of birth,
- Europass CV,
- Proof of nationality (copy of passport),
- Certified (translated) copy of university diplomas,
- Certified (translated) transcript of study results,
- Certified proof of language test results (i.e. TOEFL minimum score of 237 (computer based), 580 (paper-based) or 92-93 (internet-based) or IELTS minimal average score of 6.5 without any category below 6,
- Preferred research topics and mobility track,
- Review of research activities carried out,
- Copy of publications published,
- Description of eligibility criteria for Erasmus Mundus fellowship.
In addition, the following eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Programme Guide of the Erasmus Mundus Programme apply:
- a student may not pursue the PhD degree in the country where he/she has finished a master degree within the last 12 months,
- a student may not apply to more than 3 EMJDs in any given year,
- a student has not been the recipient of an EMJD fellowship previously,
- both European and non-European students are eligible to apply.
