A PhD scholarship in Cardiovascular disease has been announced by the FHML/School for Cardiovascular Diseases/CARIM - Internal Medicine in association with Maastricht university, netherlands.
The PhD student will, in close collaboration with technicians, perform genetic (e.g. single nucleotide polymorphism, SNP) and biomarker (e.g. ELISA technique) analyses on the biomaterials that have already been collected in the CODAM study. Within our team, ample experience is available on these techniques. The PhD student will perform multiple logistic and linear regression analyses and write the scientific papers that will form the basis of his/ her PhD thesis. The detailed phenotypic information that we have available in the prospective CODAM database gives us a unique possibility to address the relation between the complement activation in the circulation and incident cardiovascular disease and as such may provide novel targets for future interventions in fighting CVD.
Description
Master degree in Medicine, Life Sciences or a comparable education. Interest in chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes, affinity with laboratory techniques and / or affinity with epidemiology are regarded a benefit. Good written and oral expression skills are required.

Your salary would be € 2.042,-- gross per month in the first year up to € 2.612,-- gross per month in the fourth year according to the PhD-student salary scale.
