Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a job contract position as a System Programmer. This job is funded as part of the HEA PRTLI4 project e-INIS, towards a National e-Infrastructure, and will be based at the Dublin offices of the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC).
The job position is available immediately and the contract duration is until the 31st December 2011.
The ideal candidate for this job will have a broad range of system and application development experience, have a high level of initiative and be able to work as part of a distributed team in multiple roles and on different projects concurrently. Applicants should have a background in computer science, science or engineering and strong skills in developing secure web services and applications. While previous experience in an HPC environment is not required, it would be advantageous.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Development of applications for internal information and management services
  • Development of web portals for HPC and data management services for end-users.
Skills and Experience:
It is essential that applicants are familiar with Python 2 and can demonstrate prior experience of RDBMS, LDAP directory services, web application development with an MVC web framework and basic linux systems administration tasks. It is desirable that applicants are familiar with Javascript / JQuery rich web application user interface development, the Django MVC web application framework and accompanying plugin ecosystem (particularly Celery and Haystack), replicated OpenLDAP directory services, PostgresSQL 8.x and the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
Salary Range:
€38,286 – €46,390 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
