The Institute of Transuranium elements, Germany offers fellowships for PhD-students, post-doctoral researchers and senior scientists. Interested scientists are particularly welcome under this scheme, whereby fellowships are funded from our own budget. Potential applicants should respond to calls for interest published on the ITU website.

Description
Title: Interaction of advanced oxide fuels for GEN-IV SFR with sodium in operating conditions
Description: The main challenge for the development of innovative fast reactor fuels, envisioned in the international GEN-IV program, comes from the necessity to incorporate the minor actinides (Np, Am, Cm) into the fuels up to significant concentrations. Though various types of fuels, e.g. nitrides, carbides, metals, are potential candidates, oxide fuels are currently considered as reference for Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors for which worldwide industries have already accumulated substantial experience in terms of fabrication, reactor operation, reprocessing and risk assessment.

The candidate should have a good knowledge in solid state physics as well as a good background in microstructure analysis, crystallography, and thermodynamics.

How to apply: potential applicants should respond to calls for interest published on the ITU website (http://itu.jrc.ec.europa.eu). Candidates are advised to carefully read the general eligibility criteria and conditions of employment in our website. The applicants should send the application form together with : up-to-date curriculum vitae and list of publications (if applicable), preferably in English, motivation letter, preferably in English, copy of your degree(s).
Candidates from non-member countries should provide a translation in a Community language of their certificates, photocopy of documents proving that the admission requirement regarding the nationality is met (e.g. copy of you passport) by registered mail to:
