The Research position High Power RF distribution system, Sweden is at the Angstrom Laboratory, Department of Engineering Science, Solid State Electronics group. The research position will be appointed as soon as the right candidate is found for a period of two year and may be renewed.
The European Spallation Source Scandinavia (ESSS) is an intergovernmental project building a multi-disciplinary research laboratory based upon the world’s most powerful neutron source. The main facility will be built in Lund, Sweden, with a Data Management Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, at an investment cost of 1.4 B€. Building is expected to start around 2012, the first neutrons to be produced in 2018-19 and the facility to be fully operational around 2023. ESS will support a user community of 5000 researchers.

Work description:
We are looking for a scientist who has an interest to develop the radio-frequency (RF)-distribution chain for ESS, which includes microwave high power components operating at a frequency about 700 MHz. The microwave components which are part of the RF power distribution chain consist of active and passive components like amplifiers, power-dividers, directional couplers and like, but also components that can be controlled like vector-modulators. For the design low and high frequency (microwave) measurement facilities, software for electromagnetic (EM)-simulations and also a large anechoic chamber are available.

Requirements:
PhD degree in relevant subject. The development of the RF distribution system demands good knowledge in the microwave area and in EM wave propagation. The applicant should have experience of development work both experimental and theoretical of active and passive microwave components and preferably toward high power applications. The applicant should also have experience in using commercial software for calculating the EM-field, like Ansoft HFSS, CST and similar. Good abilities to communicate in oral and written English.
Salary will be set according to the successful applicant’s qualifications.

Applications:
Applications should include a brief description of research interest and past experience, a CV, copies of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of your Doctoral thesis (or a draft thereof) and other relevant documents. The candidates are encouraged to provide letter(s) of recommendation and contact information to reference persons.
