Early Stage Researcher: A PhD position in Material Science has been announced under the Marie Curie Initial Training Network at CNRS, Montpellier, France. The Phd position in material science is for 36 months under the Marie Curie program.

PhD Program Description
Investigation of the optical properties of 4H, 3C and 15R SiC samples grown by the Network Partners. Among the three different polytypes that will be under consideration, 3C and 4H-SiC are the most forms, respectively cubic and hexagonal, and 4H-SiC is already used for device applications. The PhD student will learn more in details about the theory of optical processes in semiconductors with special emphasis on the effect of interface effects, polytype inclusions in SiC and doping species analysis. He/she will work experimentally on bulk material obtained from all Partners in WP1 as well as epitaxial SiC layers deposited in the framework of the device laboratories.
A strong involvement to participate in the Network activities will be necessary.

Career Stage
Early stage researcher or 0-4 yrs (Post graduate).

PhD Position Benefits
Complementary skills to be acquired during the PhD program in material science: web technology, language courses, Intellectual property rules, management...
International and industrial contacts within NetFISiC network (15 young researchers, 9 laboratories and 3 companies). Participation in International meetings (conferences, workshops, training schools).
The PhD positions in materials are well paid, including a basic living and a mobility allowance (with deductions by national laws) and travel and career exploratory allowances according to the Marie Curie Initial Training Network rules. Each PhD research fellow will get an employment contract with one partner and will perform secondments at other partners. A generous career development package is included.

PhD Job position
This job position is offered in the scope of the European FP7 project "NetFISiC" - Marie Curie Initial Training Network - which objective is to provide Silicon carbide material (of various polytypes) with improved and adequate functional interfaces for getting a step forward in electronic devices performance. Overall, 13 ESRs and 2 ERs will be recruited and trained within this network, on multi-disciplinary subjects like material growth, characterization and devices fabrication, with a particular focus on SiC.This job position is offered in the scope of a Marie Curie Initial Training Network, and receives funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement n°264613 - NetFISiC . Mobility rules apply, therefore the candidate should not have spent more than 12 months in the last 3 years in the country of application. Gender equity rules apply.
