The Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program (PHIFP) is a 2-year applied fellowship for professionals with a master's or higher degree. We train professionals to apply information science and technology to the practice of public health.

Eligibility and Application Information
To apply for PHIFP, you must:
  • Meet both the educational and professional requirements
  • Be willing to commit to a 2-year full-time program
  • Be willing to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia
Educational Requirements

A doctoral (PhD, MD) or masters level degree is required. Qualifying degree must be from an accredited academic institution in one of the following:
  • Public health, medicine, health care, health-services research
  • Computer science, information science, information systems
  • Statistics
  • Epidemiology
  • Public health informatics or related discipline
Professional Requirements

Documented 1-year experience for doctoral level candidates and 3-year experience for masters level candidates is required in one of the following fields:
  • Public health informatics
  • Health informatics or related field
  • Information systems
  • Information science
  • Computer science
  • Information technology
Additionally, documented 1-year experience for doctoral level candidates and 3-year experience for masters level candidates is required in one of the following areas:
  • Public health
  • Related healthcare profession (medicine, nursing, veterinary medicine, dentistry, allied health professions)
Research Requirements

Documented experience in performing research or evaluation during or after academic training (e.g., publication, thesis, poster presentation, research/evaluation proposal).
