A number of PhD Positions in Molecular Science is available with the Max F. Perutz Laboratories in Vienna, Austria. Currently, 150 PhD students from more than 40 nations work at the MFPL and create an open, interactive atmosphere. English is the official working language.
About the School
The Max F. Perutz Laboratories are a joint-venture of the University of Vienna and the Medical University Vienna. Located at the Campus Vienna Biocenter, the MFPL enable students to participate in high quality research in an international academic environment as well as to establish connections with nearby companies. The MFPL PhD Program offers positions across all fields of molecular life sciences involving cell signalling, chromosome biology, computational biology & bioinformatics, cytoskeleton, infection biology, membrane traficking, nuclear organization, RNA biology, and structural biology.
How to apply
The MFPL PhD Program is open to students who hold a Master’s degree in the biosciences, chemistry, or related fields, or students who expect to finish their master study before June 2012. Our selections take place twice a year (May and November).
Admission to the MFPL Graduate School is very competitive, and solely carried out through a centralized selection procedure. Please note that applications can only be accepted via the online application system within the announced application period. Late or incomplete applications are not considered.
Applicants from non-European countries are requested to submit a GRE® (Graduate Record Examinations) score. This will help us to evaluate your application more fairly. When applying, please submit a copy of your official record.
Evaluation of applications
The first evaluation is carried out by a committee of MFPL group leaders, who jointly shortlist the candidates to be invited for the Interview Days in Vienna. Invitations for the winter selection will be sent out by October 10, 2011.
Only applications submitted electronically via the Online Application System will be accepted. Applications submitted by fax, email or mail can not be considered.

- master certificates (if not yet available, upload transcripts of records or marksheets) and other supporting documents uploaded to the online application form;
- two confidential recommendation letters to be submitted by the referees directly to us.
