A PhD Position in Process Control Modules (PCMs) for Photonics Integration Technology is available within the Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Project Description
Process control modules (PCMs) are commonly used in micro-electronics. In photonic integration they are new. It is the task of the PhD student to develop a systematic approach towards the problem of testing and validating the photonic integration process integrity and to extend the approach to a higher complexity level of testing, that allows for rapid on-wafer testing of a variety of component and circuit specifications. Such a systematic approach becomes possible and useful in a generic technology approach where a large variety of different functionalities is synthesized from a small set of basic components, which reduces the problem of testing process integrity to the problem of validating the performance of the basic components.

Our Photonic Integration group is playing a key role in this exciting development and it is searching for PhD students and postdocs that want to help us in pushing the frontiers of integration technology and chip complexity to their fundamental limits. We offer excellent opportunities for research into increasingly complex Photonic ICs and for advanced material, technology and device research for development of a next technology generation with strongly improved performance and new capabilities.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with an MSc in Electrical Engineering or Physics. We are aiming for the best candidates (top 20 %). The candidate is expected to have excellent grades, excellent communication skills and written/verbal knowledge of the English language.
