The Joint Research Centre in Geel, Belgium, is offering a position for a post-doctoral scientist in the area of nanotechnologies applied to food safety and food quality. The successful candidate will contribute to scientific projects in the area of detection methods for engineered nanomaterials in food and feed.

Project Description
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) operates the EU reference laboratory for feed additives. Nanoparticles may be expected to emerge as a new kind of food/feed additives transferring novel functionalities to the products. In response to these developments, the JRC is looking for a postdoctoral scientist with good knowledge of the state of the art of nanotechnology applied to food and feed. The successful candidate will screen the literature for potential applications of nanotechnologies in food and feed, in particular as additives, identify suitable analytical approaches for the detection of nanomaterials added to complex food/feed matrices, and will implement fit-for-purpose measurement techniques for the detection/characterisation of nanomaterials in the laboratory.
Requirements for the Postdoc Position, Belgium
Interested candidates with a Ph.D. in chemistry/food science or a related discipline and a good knowledge in the field of nanotechnology are invited to submit their applications. The expertise of the candidates shall be underpinned by a corresponding publication list. The candidates shall have a high degree of flexibility and the ability to work together with other scientists in an internationally-oriented research team. Good command of English is a prerequisite.
